Oh! Shalini from Pooveli

Exit 168 on the North South Malaysian Highway - where home sweet home is......
ஒஹ் ஷாலினி.....ஒஹ் ஷாலினி.....
காதல் பெண்ணே தேவை இல்லை கோவம்.....
பூக்களுக்கு பல் முளைத்தல் பாவம்.....

Heard this one, inadvertently. It put a smirk on my face and a beam around my brain. SPB-Ji has this perky way of delivering songs with full blown feelings.
You will know what I mean, if you give this song a try. And, this is extra special because he croons my name, as well.
It was an awesome day, indeed. Gallivanting, is what I did in the afternoon. Traipsing around my little hometown, which is pretty calm and composed - is fun. And, that is EXACTLY what I had this evening. FUN in capital letters. So, to everyone out there, who have been hoping for me to bounce back, thank you so, so much !!!!!!

I am spirited and strident. And this is me, spontaneously.

1. My favourite colour is yellow. A little bizarre because I have the least number of clothes in that hue.
2. I miss my father all the time. He is on my mind 24/7. He was the greatest. Still is. Always will.
3. Have you ever been to the magnificent Thayumanavar Swamy Temple, enroute the Ucchi Pillayar Temple in Trichy ? I find the architecture, ingenious.
4. Yours truly is indubitably loquacious - with people who I adore. And, vice versa.
5. Mention India, and I am all frisky. My motherland psyches me - big time. Reasons are plain nonessential.
6. Oru Ganam Oru Yugam Aaga from Nadodi Thendral is such a whimsical number. Maestro Illayaraja dazzles me as he weaves in his magical voice at 03:03. Heart stopping.
7. Money is not what life is all about. Sadly, that is the conception of the present generation. It is, undoubtedly,  important BUT NOT everything. If you are a workaholic, and somehow, fate brought you to this particular post, and if you are reading it at this precise moment - do me a favour (or rather, do yourself, a favour...), take a day off and just unwind. It is those small moments that make your life big.
8. I love my religion. I am a proud Hindu. I was born one and WILL die one. And, yes I am devout.
9. Breakfast like a king. I do EXACTLY that. My first meal of the day is always in large portions. People are surprised that I can actually eat that much. I am 43kgs and 5 feet 1 - petite by any standards.
10. There is NOTHING wrong in smiling at the stranger on the street. It is a beautiful form of acknowledgement.
11. I am believer in good etiquette. People who are courteous and go by decorum, bowl me over.
12. Alaipayuthey is STILL my favourite movie. And, Kanyakumari is in like manner, my most romantic spot.

So, Shalu IS back, I guess. Vaayaadi (a talkative girl, in Tamil), is back. It was another of my father's pet name for me.....

Cheers to happy days ahead. To me, and each and everyone of you.
Take care, God bless.

Ninaika Terintha Maname from Aanantha Jothi

My mind is cluttered. My brain is disorientated. My life is mystifying. I am off balance. Stumped, in other words.....
Two days of the long weekend have bade goodbye. I am in the middle of the third day of national holiday. One more to go, tomorrow, And, then, voila - it will be back to square one. Life goes on - per diem.
Something is actually distressing me. I cannot blog about it though. Perhaps, I will - after I sort it out. Fine tuning, at the moment.
With a mega muddled medulla oblongata, no songs come to mind. I want to - badly. Post a good, peepy number that would lift and mount my haywire heart. Still and all, this comes to mind.
You know what ? One of the hardest parts of life is deciding whether to walk away or try harder.....
Go have a HAPPY, HAPPY day. Mine is just around the the corner (I know, for SURE). All I need is patience and the Almighty's warm embrace to keep me holding on.....

Thazhampoove Paasam Veesu from Kai Kodukkum Kai

Looking forward fervently to next weekend - when we, Malaysians get 4 days of national holiday. Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Isn't that great ? It is for me.....
The haze has yet to move away. And, due to it, the weather is massively humid. What most of us are wishing for right now, is a heavy downpour. The cat and dog one. The flurry. The rainstorm. Wish it would. Anytime. Without telltales or warning. That would be awesome, in capital letters.
Last Friday was wonderful. Met up with my girl friends for dinner. Had a whale of time despite the burnt hot plate ice cream brownie, which was supposed to be Karaikudi, Penang's dish of the day. We are planning a shopping trip the week after this. Let's see how it goes.
My Thulasi plants are growing steadily. This was planted with love and devotion. And seeing it grow from a tiny tot, thrills me.
Amma has been constantly reminding me about checking on our flight tickets to India, this coming Deepavali. She seems to be far more intent, than me, at times. I am, on the other hand, steadily enthusiastic about India.
I bought a book. Shadows Beneath the Fronds by Paul Callan. A Malaysian Indian love story. I have yet to start but will up keep you all posted, if it is a good read.
This is a beautiful song, yet treated as insignificant. IR. The maestro. His songs are ALL gems.
I am inclined towards these particular lines. Beautifully written, aren't they ??
Have a great week ahead !!! God Bless ........

Oru Kural from Vazhakku Enn 18/9

Howdy ? Life has been as busy as the streets of Schildergasse in Cologne, Germany. The passage passed through by over 17,000 people every hour. Yes - every hour.
I have been joining my beloved sister on shopping sprees for the past two weekends. And, when, I return home, all I want to do is freshen up and hit the bed. I love shopping. Do not doubt that. But, all that driving, walking, glancing, watching, surveying, contemplating and finally, purchasing - takes its toll on you and your wallet (me, in this case) - eventually.
It is Olympics fever everywhere. My abode, included. But, I somehow managed to watch Vazhakku Enn 18/9 despite it all. And, was startled and stunned by what an awesome movie it turned out to be. Expecting an award for this. Balaji Saktivel, the director continues to convince me of his brilliance and ingenuity. The final scene was heart rending. It brought tears to my eyes. The pathos is still lingering on. Just as this song. Karthik has brought life and soul to this song - without help from any musical ensemble.
Watch the movie. The video song is far better than this.....
Have a great week ahead....
Take care, God Bless.
