Pirai Thedum Iravile from Mayakkam Enna

Ten reasons why I LOVED Mayakkam Enna.
10. The Voda Voda Thooram Kurayilai song visualization. Cleverly hilarious.
9. The bathroom scene. Dhanush's comically petrified  look upon sighting of the lizard.
8. Dhanush runs away to Mysore. He returns after a long hiatus. Richa's dialogues. How she missed him. How she begs him to never do that again. The embrace and tears of joy they share. And, along the movie, the stolen looks that Dhanush and Richa constantly share.
7. Dhanush, chancing upon a grandmother by the road side. He uncovers her beauty - like never before. The happiness on her face. The pride she oozes.
6. The Kumudham issue with Dhanush's photo shoot of elephants. How the magazine goes through so many hands before being discovered as a masterpiece. It is then, that Dhanush's life takes a quantum leap.
5. The Kathal Kathal Yen Kaathal song. Took me by surprise. I conceptualized Selvaragavan doing something alike Varanam Aayiram's Anjalai song. I was so, so wrong.
4. The dreadful look of Dhanush upon finding his work plagiarized, by the man he idolizes. He gives brilliant expressions. Believe me, when I tell you, that your heart will skip a beat at this point of the movie.
3. Merciful Richa's adamancy and determination to stand by her man - come what may. Success in marriage does not come merely through finding the right mate, but through being the right mate. She is one to him.
2. Dhanush on receiving his first major cheque and assignment. His lifetime dream. A photo shoot for The National Geographic magazine. The ecstatic Richa, upon hearing the great news, heads to the prayer altar, thanks the Almighty, and returns to the hall to find Dhanush sitting at their home entrance with a bottle of alcohol and a jug of plain water. She pauses in despair. He pours down the alcohol. He drinks the water.
1. The last fifteen minutes. The words Dhanush use to express his gratitude to his friends and wife. Heartwarming.
This a must watch - if you ask me. So, please do so. Do not let, its slow pace deter you. This movie has so many ponderous charms.

Kannuku Mai Azhagu from Puthiya Mugam

Time flies - faster during the last two months of the year. At least - that is how I feel. Another three day weekend over here, in Malaysia. I have neatly drawn plans. Today. Woke up rather early, despite sleeping late. About 6.45am. Mornings bright early, nowadays. Amma's garden has a blooming Thulsi plant. Plucked the leaves and tied a garland. Not my first attempt on tying one - but, it turned out just the way I wanted it to.
Also, went to the theater to watch "Mayakam Enna" - with mum, my sister and a cousin. I liked it - a lot. The three of them didn't, though.
Tomorrow. Need to wake up early, yet again. My beloved sister wants to go shopping - in Penang. I, as always, have been ordered to comply. And, its not like that I do not  fancy purchasing. It is, again, a win-win situation, for us. Sara Corpening, the food writer, asked, "How do people make it through life without a sister?" She could not have questioned better. If you have a sister, you will agree with me - wholeheartedly.
Monday. Would be, all about unwinding. The original "Mankatha" DVD is in hand. Would like to finally - watch it. Days and days after all its hype has died down. And, settling the needy chores.
Listen - to this soothing number. Semma feelings .....

Why This Kolaveri Kolaveri Di from 3

I am affirm and attest. I concede and confess. I disclose and declare.
What ? What, what ??
That - I am - a Dhanush adherent. A devoted supporter. Any movies of his - is fine with me. He, sweeps me off my feet - with boyish looks, wittiness and indubitable, acting abilities.
Dhanush, is, at present time, the youngest actor to win the National Film Award for Best Actor. The National Film Award, established in 1954, holds the distinction of awarding merit to the best of overall Indian cinema. A national panel appointed by the government selects the winning entry, and the award ceremony is held in New Delhi, with the President of India presenting them. And, this year he won it, for his absorbing portrayal as KP Karuppu in Aadukalam.
Today's song is piquant. Pleasing and flavorful. Bizarre lyrics. Next, in the series of anthems that Dhanush has acquainted us to. Otha Sollalaey, Voda Voda, Kathal Yen Kathal and now, Why This Kolaveri Kolaveri Di?
Dhanush, as always, looks super cute throughout this video clip. And, at 02:49 to 03:07, Dhanush steals the limelight, with his zaniness. Watch this, not only for doting on Dhanush, but for the mega hit, it is bound to be.
Mayakkam Enna, Dhanush's next release, which was selected for The South Asian International Film Festival, in New York, is due this November 25th. Looking forward to watch it within its first week of release.
Have a great week - everyone !!!

Chinnanchiru Vayathil from Meendum Kokila

Smitten and swept off by this song - thanks to these particular lyrics,

Apologies. It was a busy week. Despite wanting to post so many thoughts - time has been bereft.
Will have a three day weekend, when Friday ends. A national holiday on Sunday, thus Monday will be replacement leave. God Bless Malaysia - for the frequent holidays. Hope to update lots then.
Heading to bed, next. Till then, take care & God Bless.

Unnai Kaanum Neram from Unnai Naan Santhithen

A bright, sunny morning greets me. Nice. I get up to thank God for a new day, pray to the sun, and head downstairs to water the plants. And, this is what plays on the radio, in the background. I cannot help but smile and blush. No one else makes music as mind blowing as IR-Sir. The Maestro.
Yet again, today being Sunday, I have so many chores to complete. Taking the laundry in, folding and ironing them, cleaning the clutter on the working desk, a simple home pedicure etc etc etc.
Mum and a cousin have gone to watch 7am Arivu. I am skipping the movie. Will wait for the original DVD to arrive. What I am eagerly, anticipating is, instead, Dhanush's Mayakam Enna. Read on the net news that is supposed to hit the cinemas on 18th of November 2011.
Oh, yeah - watched Muran on Friday night. A good attempt for a Tamil thriller - never mind the fact that many say it is an adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock's psychological thriller, Strangers on a Train. Prasanna and Cheran deserve a big applause, just as debutante director, Rajjan Madhav. A film that is definitely on my 2011 recommendation list.
If you stop by this page, please say a prayer for me. This week is BIG on my diary. No - not just because my birthday falls this Thursday, but also due to the fact that I have an equally colossal agenda. So, please (the magical word), say a prayer for me that all goes well, for me. I would be immensely grateful.
Take care & God Bless !!

Thigatta Thigatta from Yathumaagi

“The reality of the other person lies not in what he reveals to you, but what he cannot reveal to you. Therefore, if you would understand him, listen not to what he says, but rather to what he does not say.”~Kahlil Gibran~
Saturdays can not be sweeter, when the first words, I hear in the morning, over the phone, are his. Mellifluous - they are to me. Alike this song. He does not need to try hard to put a genuine smile on me. It comes spontaneously. He does not need to say much. The few words are tuneful enough.....
Cheers to the first day of the weekend !!

Kallikaattil from Thenmerkku Paruvakaatru

11.11.2011. A date similar to this will only come, in the next 100 years, they say. And, it will, be 11.11.2111. So, take time to cherish this significant day.
It was for me. Significant. Enduring and notable. His phone call are always, a delight. Same today. A super surprising one at 7.51pm.....
This emotionally moving and stunning song comes from the 58th National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. The heart rending lyrics from Vairamuthu, also, won this year's National Film Award for Best Lyrics. This song is for keeps. A great one that celebrates and honours a mother's devotion.
Dedicated not only to my mother, but to the greatest man in my life - my father. The man who was an equally devoted mother, to me. My hero. My everything. The one I think of and miss all the time.....

Thananana Thanthanaa from Vithagan

Sunday evening is on the verge of announcing its departure. It has been a pleasant weekend. Of fun, food and frivolity. The after math of it, is a mild sore throat and a temperate flu. Tomorrow is a national holiday. That means, another day, to pull through and bounce back.
Was reading an article about women and signs that show we are interested. Found it to be concordant with facts. Veritable.
Sign No. 1. We check him out. Agree. We do. Steal looks. Clandestinely. All the time. For further clarification, refer to the next lines.
Sign No. 2. Our eyes sparkle when you talk to us. They do. Sparkle, shine and shimmer as brilliant as a Tolkowsky cut diamond.
Sign No. 3. We always laugh at your jokes sincerely - no matter how lame they are. It is astonishing how you bring barrels of laughter into our lives.
Sign No. 4. We smile broadly at you. We do. As broad as the barn door. It comes naturally and genuinely.
Sign No. 5. We flirt with you. Lots. But note, that we flirt ONLY with YOU. From the sweet nothings to the read-in-between-the-line teasing. We love to see you blush.
Sign No. 6. We look straight at you and fiddle and flip our hair. Unwittingly, on most occasions. We are equally nervous - especially when our eyes interlock and our feelings connect.
Sign No. 7. We are especially “obedient”. We are ourselves - definitely. The only catch is, that we are, extra docile and courteous. Blame it on femininity.
Sign No. 8. We seek your approval. We prefer you to lead. We go along with your suggestions. And, we are comfortable with your arrangements.
Sign No. 9. We tense up when you touch us but we do not attempt to move away - at all. Baffling and strange - but that is the truth. Holding our hands. Brushing our arms lightly, while walking. Touching our hair. Those tiny but vivid things. We love the innocence in them.
Sign No. 10. We dress up to see you. Beyond any doubt. If you ask me, it will definitely be something traditional. A cotton churidhar suit or an ethnic kurti. And, a peppy t-shirt with jeans, once the relationship has reached complacent stage.
Sign No. 11. We like to play with your hair. Yes. 100%. Ethical enthusiasm, in other words.
Sign No. 12. We hint at cooking for you. Unambiguously. Its a girl thing.
You need score at least 4 of the above, for her to be interested.
Song for the day is from a yet to be released Parthiban starrer. This song has been sung by Swetha Menon. It has cute, quick witted lyrics and a lively melody. A current favourite.

Pattondru Ketten from Paasa Malar

The radio. I owe Guglielmo Marconi, the Italian inventor, who proved the feasibility of radio communication, appreciation and gratitude. Marconi sent and received his first radio signal in Italy in 1895. Fast forward - 116 years. Present time. Thanks to Marconi, again, I had the opportunity of listening to this dulcet, hours after the break of Saturday's dawn.
This sweet sounding and perky number comes from the 1960/61 Paasa Malar and was sung by Jamuna Rani.
Happy Saturday everyone.....

Katrodu Solli from Pidichiruku

Held, hooked and hypnotized by this delightful number. First, for it's awesome lyrics. Secondly, for it's candid and virtuous video clip. And, last but not least, for it's pleasing melody.
Yes, I have watched this movie, and would say it is a fairly good one. Unfortunately, it did not appeal to the mass. It is hard to please everyone, isn't it ??
Tongue tied. Ankyloglossia - the medical term. It happens, despite all the homework and preparations. When, you are right beside someone who makes your heart quiver at 300 beats per minute. And, what do we do to prevent such a situation ?
1. Slow down. - Hahaha. What is there to slow down ? I cannot even find words..... I want to say a thousand things to him, but somehow, they just bottle up.....
2. Relax. Let your heart rate return to normal. - Yeah, right ! As though I can - relax. I am everything, but, that. I am silent physically but voltaic emotionally. Let my heart rate return to normal ? He makes it quiver at 300 beats per minute. Do you know that this is equivalent to an emergency situation ? My heartbeat returns to its natural form days after.....
3. Know your game plan. - As if I did not draw one. A game plan, that is. Coaching, drills, practice, recitation and rehearsals. All done. And, yet, when he comes around, they practically jet out of the window.
4. Organize your thoughts. - Here you go again. Do not ask me to systematize something that is absolutely haywire, while he is around. Rationalization - does not hold water.
5. Stick to the point. - Yeah, right !! Yeah, right !! With echo effect. Point ? Help me God. I can list a hundred points. But everytime, he gazes into my eyes, points become minuscule and finally, invisible. All I manage is return his gaze, and smile.
So, lesson of the day is..... hmmmm - hold the gaze, sweeten the smile and play cool.....
Happy Weeekend all !!! Take care & God Bless !!!

Aval Oru Mohana Raagam from Thaniyaadha Dhaagam

It rains, practically every evening, over here. Heavy, thunderous ones. Even so, I love the rain. It is such a beautiful, natural event. And, not to mention, a romantic marvel (for me.....). Rain has always been my lucky charm. Somehow, many pleasant things in life have actualized on one.....
A soothing number from a 1982 movie titled Thaniyaadha Dhaagam. Something I listened at random but had an instant liking for. A little melancholic but nevertheless, with an enormous feel.....
Good Day !!!

Ya Ya Ya Yaathava from Devaraagam (Tamil)

First day of November. One more month to go - before the year ends. I want to start with something happy. Something joyful and peppy - but, at the same time, dreamy and poetic. What comes to mind is the awesome number from a touching movie titled Devaraagam that was released in 1996. It is actually a Malayalam movie, dubbed into Tamil. I have watched the latter. A good storyline with equally mind blowing acting by Arvindswamy and the gorgeous Sri Devi.
I have a soft spot for this particular song. It gives a kind of serenity to the languishing heart.
Heading to bed within the next few minutes. This song, on replay mode, will serenade me to sleep, tonight.
Nitez, all.
